Our traditional camp is by no means traditional. Campers will experience overnight camp for a week of fun, food, and friends. Campers grade 4 and up will get the chance to pick their activities for the week, and grades 2-3 will rotate between different activities. Teens chose activities and participate in additional on and offsite trips, games, and gatherings designed especially for them!
Traditional Camp is for all ages 7-17 and every week includes a good mix but not all ages are housed together or do all activities together. Within our traditional week of camp, we have 3 different groups of kids that have a little different program for each.
Our 2nd & 3rd graders(typically 7&8-year-olds) are what we call Primaries. As the youngest group at camp, they are naturally the most closely supervised. They stay with their cabin counselors all day and rotate through a mixture of different activities. The idea is that they get to try a little of everything! From hiking to archery, pony rides and more, they move together all day long and have a taste of the most basic of camp activities.
Campers that are 4th-& 5th graders are called Junior 1’s. 6th & 7th-grade campers are called Junior 2’s. This distinction is mostly for housing. As campers age, we allow for a little more independence. Their cabins spend the morning together in an activity that their counselor chooses such as arts & crafts, waterfront, ropes course or sports & games. In the afternoon they have the opportunity to choose their schedule from a variety of activities. In addition to what the primaries have available they can also sign up for target sports like riflery, and Archery Tag. And Juniors begin to participate in activities on our Ropes course!
When our campers reach the summer before their 8th-grade year they become part of our Teen Program. Teens have much the same schedule as Juniors with some specific additions! Teens have more time at our high ropes course, teens have a couple of late night activities and this summer we will return to having teen trips during the week.
